Commercialization of the Titanium Technologies LLC Patents

The TCG study, concluded in mid-Summer of 2002, put an emphasis on the stage of the industry and the need for the appropriate strategic partners. The decline of aviation orders following September 11 put constraints on the use of the technology, given the drop of titanium prices. Still, our patents are yet to be tested on a commercial scale. It is our claim that even with the current titanium prices we can outperform existing recycling technologies to a degree that it will ensure the commercial viability of our patents.

The value of our patents could prove to extent beyond the titanium industry. For example, the unique capacities of the cone-inertial crusher could find applications for many other metals. It is interesting to note the observations of TCG regarding this matter: “ … the crusher developed in the ISTC-funded project appears to be unique and generally of a different use than devices currently patented. Current devices are used principally in the crushing of rock and minerals into certain small sizes. The cone crusher developed in the ISTC project allows crushing of metals into a powder, and provides the ability to choose a coarse or fine texture. These appear to be differentiating factors from devices presently on the market.”
